Everything You Need to Know

We believe craftsmanship is more than a skill. It is a gift from God. Every piece is restored with excellence, integrity, and genuine care, with the hope of bringing beauty, peace, and quiet reminders of God’s goodness into your home.

Curated for your home...

The Collection

Every Bloom & Grain piece begins with purpose. Long before it finds a place in your home, it is thoughtfully restored with excellence, integrity, and genuine care in our Chattanooga workshop. We invite you to discover the heart behind our work, learn about our process, and find answers to questions you may have.

More Than Craftsmanship

Bloom & Grain was born from a deep-seated desire to reflect God’s goodness in the way we work. More than restoring beautiful pieces, we endeavor to create spaces that reflect the Father’s heart and remind people of the peace, beauty, and hope found in Jesus Christ.

In Exodus 31, God chose Bezalel, filled him with His Spirit, and gifted him with wisdom, understanding, knowledge, and craftsmanship to create works of beauty for His dwelling place. Bezalel's life reminds us that craftsmanship is more than a skill. It is a gift entrusted to us by God.

We trust that every repair, every brushstroke, every finish, and every detail will be marked by excellence, integrity, wisdom, and genuine care.

Home is meant to be more than a place we live in. This is where families gather, prayers are lifted, burdens are laid down, laughter echoes, healing takes place, and everyday life unfolds. It is our prayer that every piece restored by Bloom & Grain quietly contributes to those moments of grace, love, and fellowship.

The meaning behind Bloom & Grain...

Transformation Without Erasure

Bloom speaks to transformation: color, softness, botanical influence, and the possibility of new life. Grain speaks to what is already there: wood, material, age, construction, craftsmanship, and authenticity. Together, they express the philosophy behind our work.

We believe restoration does not require erasing a piece's history. The goal is not to make old furniture look newly manufactured, nor to force every piece into the same aesthetic. Instead, we look carefully at what is already there: its lines, proportions, wood, construction, details, and character, and consider what it can become.

Sometimes that means preserving natural wood. Sometimes it means introducing color, new hardware, or an unexpected detail. Sometimes the transformation is quiet; sometimes it is dramatic. But the intention remains the same: to give each piece new life without erasing the character that made it worth choosing in the first place.

FAQ

Before You Purchase

Why buy refinished furniture?

Refinished furniture offers the character and craftsmanship of well-built pieces while giving them a fresh new life. Rather than purchasing mass-produced furniture, you're investing in a one-of-a-kind piece that has been thoughtfully restored by hand. It's a sustainable choice that celebrates quality, reduces waste, and brings timeless beauty into your home.

Is every piece one of a kind?

Yes. Every Bloom & Grain piece is individually refinished by hand. Because each piece has its own history, wood grain, and character, no two are ever exactly alike.

Will there be imperfections?

Many of the pieces we restore are vintage or previously loved. While we carefully repair, refinish, and protect every piece, small character marks may remain. These subtle imperfections are part of the furniture's story and add to its unique charm.

Can I see additional photos?

Each listing includes multiple high-quality photos from different angles to help you see the piece clearly. If there is a specific detail not shown, feel free to reach out and we'll do our best to help.

Can I view the furniture in person?

We do not offer showroom visits. Local pickup is available by appointment, and delivery may also be available for an additional fee.

Can you recreate a sold piece?

Every Bloom & Grain piece is one of a kind. While an identical piece cannot be recreated, we may be able to create something with a similar style, finish, or color palette depending on available inventory.

Ordering & Payment

How do I reserve a piece?

A piece may be reserved with a 50% non-refundable deposit. Once your deposit is received, the item is marked as Reserved and removed from active sale. If Bloom & Grain is unable to complete the sale for any reason, your deposit will be refunded in full.

Can I cancel my reservation?

You may cancel your reservation at any time. If you choose to cancel your reservation, a cancellation fee equal to 25% of the purchase price will be retained to compensate for the time the piece was held off the market and unavailable to other buyers. The remaining portion of your reservation deposit will be refunded. If Bloom & Grain is unable to fulfill the sale for any reason, your reservation deposit will be refunded in full.

How long is a reservation held?

Reserved pieces are typically held for 48 hours unless another arrangement has been agreed upon in advance.

What payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept:
-  Zelle
-  Venmo
-  Cash App
-  Cash (for local transactions)

When is payment due?

The remaining balance is due at pickup or before delivery, unless another arrangement has been made in advance.

Do you offer financing?

We do not currently offer financing. However, larger custom projects may be completed and billed in phases, helping to break the overall project into more manageable stages. Each phase will require a 50% deposit, with the remaining balance due upon completion of that phase.

At this time, Bloom & Grain does not offer shipping. We currently serve customers through local pickup and delivery.

Can someone else receive my furniture on my behalf?

Yes. If someone else will be picking up or receiving your furniture, please let us know in advance. This helps us verify the recipient and ensure a smooth handoff.

Will you bring the furniture inside?

We'll do our best to assist whenever it is safe to do so. Because we work independently, larger or heavier pieces may require the customer to provide an additional person to help move the furniture safely into the home.

Returns & Policies

Do you accept returns?

Because every Bloom & Grain piece is unique and carefully described, all sales are final.

What if my furniture is damaged?

We take great care to ensure every piece arrives safely and in excellent condition. At the time of pickup or delivery, you'll have the opportunity to inspect your furniture before the handoff is complete. If you notice any concerns, we'll work with you to address them before the sale is finalized.

Do you offer a warranty?

While we do not offer a formal warranty, we stand behind our workmanship. If you experience an issue related to our refinishing, please contact us and we'll do our best to make it right.

Custom Cabinet Refinishing

What cabinet refinishing services do you offer?

We specialize in refinishing the exterior surfaces of existing cabinetry, including kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and other built-in cabinets. Our services include painting, door enhancements, trim installation, hardware replacement, and updating the overall appearance of your cabinetry without the expense of a full replacement.

Do you refinish the inside of the cabinets?

Our primary focus is the visible exterior of your cabinetry. The cabinet interiors remain in place and generally do not require refinishing. Interior cabinet doors are cleaned, lightly sanded, and protected as needed, while the exterior receives the complete refinishing treatment.

Will I need to empty my cabinets?

No. Since we work primarily on the exterior surfaces, you can usually leave your dishes and belongings inside your cabinets. We carefully mask and protect the cabinet openings before beginning any work.

How does the cabinet refinishing process work?

Our process is designed to minimize the amount of time we spend in your home.

  1. We begin with an on-site consultation to review the project, confirm measurements, and finalize your selections.
  2. Once approved, we remove the cabinet doors and transport them to our workshop for refinishing.
  3. We return to your home to prepare, prime, and paint the exterior cabinet boxes.
  4. After the finish has properly cured, we reinstall the refinished doors, install new hardware (if selected), and complete a final inspection.
How long does cabinet refinishing take?

Every project is different, but most cabinet refinishing projects are completed over several visits spread across several days. This allows adequate preparation, drying, curing, and installation while minimizing disruption to your home.

What type of paint do you use?

We use premium cabinet coatings specifically formulated for cabinetry and furniture. These finishes are designed to provide excellent durability, a smooth professional appearance, and long-lasting protection against everyday wear.

Can you match an existing color?

Yes. We can work with colors from major paint manufacturers or help you select a color that complements your home's style.

Can you update my cabinet doors?

Yes. In many cases we can modernize existing cabinet doors by adding decorative trim, creating a cleaner and more updated appearance without replacing the doors entirely.

Do you replace cabinet hardware?

Yes. We can install new knobs, pulls, and handles as part of your cabinet refinishing project. New hardware is one of the simplest ways to give cabinetry a completely refreshed look.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide complimentary consultations and estimates so you can understand the scope of work, timeline, and pricing before making a decision.

Do you work outside Chattanooga?

Yes. We gratefully serve Chattanooga and many surrounding communities. If you're unsure whether your home falls within our service area, please contact us and we'll be happy to let you know.

Furniture Care

How long should I wait before heavy use?

Although your furniture is fully cured before pickup or delivery whenever possible, we recommend treating it gently for the first few weeks. Avoid dragging heavy objects across the surface during this time.

Can I use furniture polish?

We recommend avoiding waxes, silicone-based polishes, and oil-based cleaners. A soft microfiber cloth lightly dampened with water is typically all that's needed for regular cleaning.

Can I place plants on the furniture?

Yes, but always use a waterproof tray or saucer beneath plant pots. Standing moisture can damage any furniture finish over time.

How should I clean my furniture?

Dust regularly with a clean microfiber cloth. For routine cleaning, use a lightly damp cloth followed by a dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.

Is the finish water-resistant?

Yes. The finish provides excellent everyday protection, but standing water should always be wiped up promptly to preserve the beauty of the piece.

What should I avoid placing on the surface?

Avoid placing extremely hot items, wet objects, rubber-backed mats, or sharp objects directly on the surface. Coasters, placemats, and felt pads are always recommended.
